It is my privilege in this month's update to introduce Dave Smith who has accepted the invitation to become the assistant director of Open Door Baptist Missions.  Dave grew up as a MK in Papua New Guinea.  Completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees, Dave married the former Shawn Williams.  Answering God's call to missions, Dave and Shawn completed deputation and then began serving in the remote Simbai region of Papua New Guinea where they have had a fruitful ministry from 2000 until their return to the States in June of this year.  It is exciting to have an assistant director that has years of experience as well as a servant's heart.  Much of Dave's time over this next year will be spent in reporting to his supporting churches.  Pray that these churches will continue their financial support as Dave transitions into this new role as a missionary to missionaries!
