I have been reading and meditating on the book of Isaiah. The responsibility Isaiah had for the people of Israel in Isaiah 61 was striking to me. This same responsibility is for God’s children today. (Is. 61:1-2) I am thankful for a situation that occurred not long ago in Ramallah where a mother asked advise from a sister in the Lord concerning the fate of her 16 year old daughter who struggled with epilepsy. Her family considered this to be a shameful condition and to solve the problem they suggested that the mother kill her daughter. This distraught mother sought Godly counsel. Immediately the missionary directed the mother to God’s Word and proceeded to tell her that the Lord makes no mistakes and that every child is a gift and is precious in the sight of God. Killing her daughter is Satan’s way, but giving life is the Lord’s way. The mother then asked the missionary to visit at her home. This sister in the Lord did exactly what was required of Isaiah.
